The Australian prime minister John Howard launched a sun heating rebate scheme yesterday. The scheme gives a $1000 rebate when installing a solar heating system for water. An electric heating system should be replaced in order for the rebate to be valid.

Opposition leader Kevin Rudd says that the PM finally is awake after 11 years of sleep with regards to climate change issues. He also claims that the only reason Howard is acting now is the upcoming elections. However the environmentalists are welcoming the rebate scheme.

It is great to see that the poiticians are acting on the current green trend in Australia, Using the sun for heating and electricity must surely be the most relevant and usable technology in Australia.

Lets see if this rebate scheme will have as large impact as the Swedish Envrionmental car rebates had
